About Us
Here at Cornerstone Bible Church...
We are focused on our relationships — with God, within the body of Christ, and with the lost.
Our desire is that each of us, on an individual basis, would "...know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His suffering" so that we will be continually conformed into His image (Phil. 3:10).
As a church family, we desire to encourage each other in our walks with the Lord. Praying for each other, studying the Bible together, and lending a helping hand or listening ear are just some of the ways we edify and show our love to each other. Cornerstone Bible Church seeks to fulfill the great commission as we live in, serve, and witness to the surrounding communities and support missionaries throughout the world. We pray that God will use us to help the unsaved recognize their deep need for a forgiving Savior who loves them so much that He willingly laid His life down for them.
We would love to have you visit our church so that we can get to know you and be a blessing to you! "The Lord make His face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: the Lord lift up His countenance upon thee, and give thee peace." ~ Numbers 6:25 & 26
Statement of Faith
1. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, inerrant and infallible Word of God to man. The New Testament serves as the foundation of the doctrine of the Christian Church. (II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:20-21; Revelation 22:18-19)
2. We believe there is one eternal God, the Creator of all things, who exists in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:1, 26; Matthew 28:19; John 1:1; Colossians 1:16-17; Revelation 1:8)
3. We believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was begotten by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a perfect, sinless life. (Isaiah 7:14; Isaiah 9:6; Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:31-35; Hebrews 1:1-8; Hebrews 7:26)
4. We believe man was created in God's image, but by man's transgression, he became separated from God. All who reach the age of accountability are responsible for their sinful deeds. (Genesis 1:26; Genesis 3; John 3:3; Romans 3:10, 12, 23)
Church History
Before it became Country Baptist Church in 1994, the church was named Chacon Lake Baptist Church and was founded in the summer of 1966 by Pastor John Land and his wife, Barbara. Members first gathered for worship in a church member’s house. A year later on Sunday, June 25, 1967, the first in-building service was held in the current location in Natalia, Texas. Many Godly men served as pastor at Chacon Lake Baptist Church throughout the years. After Pastor Land moved to Alaska, he was succeeded by Luis Vannater, then Bill Patterson, Ron Cooper, and Gary Shaw. For a brief time, the church was re-named Emmanuel Bible Church.
Under Pastor Shaw’s leadership, it was learned that Country Baptist Church of Bigfoot, Texas was struggling with major facility problems. In 1990, Pastor Shaw invited Country Baptist to unite with their church family. Country gladly accepted and brought approximately fifty members to Emmanuel Bible Church as well as a new pastor, Pastor Donnie Adcox. In 1994, the name of the combined churches was changed to Country Baptist Church.
When Pastor Adcox was called away from Country Baptist Church, Brother Haywood Earls became the interim preacher. It wasn’t long before he was asked to become the full-time pastor. Brother Earls accepted the position, and a Spirit-filled ordination service took place at Maranatha Bible Church in San Antonio. The Lord called Pastor Earls home to Heaven in 1998. During this difficult time, Maranatha Bible Church played a vital role in keeping Country afloat by supplying men to preach at Country each week.
Following many discussions among the members, a unanimous decision was made to extend a call to Brother JD and Brenda Sanders of Maranatha to take on the pastorate at Country Baptist Church. Brother Sanders accepted and assumed the pastorate on March 7, 1999. Along with spiritual nourishment, Pastor Sanders’s early goals included improving the physical church structure, implementing administrative procedures, and establishing ministries to equip the saints for the work of the ministry at CBC. He and his wife, Brenda, loved their Country family dearly. Their greatest joy was seeing people saved, hearts and lives changed, and saints grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. Pastor and Mrs. Sanders served faithfully for sixteen years, and Country grew and flourished under their Godly leadership. Due to continued health struggles, the Sanders resigned from the pastorate in October of 2015.
On October 25, 2015, Assistant Pastor Rick Murphy was installed as the new Senior Pastor. He and his wife, Amada, served their church family for two years. In October of 2017, however, Rick resigned from the pastorate when life circumstances took him in a different direction.
After much prayer and consideration, Country Baptist Church voted in a new Senior Pastor on November 25, 2018. Trent and Logan Johnson from Lake Park, Georgia arrived in Lytle, Texas at the beginning of the new year, and Trent was installed as the new Senior Pastor on January 27, 2019. God used Pastor Trent to grow the church tremendously and many lives were changed and many people got saved over the 3 years he was the Pastor here. On August 8th 2021, Trent resigned from the pastorate when God told him to focus his efforts in another area of his life.
After a short search by the pastoral committee, Roland Deleon was installed as the new Senior Pastor on August 22, 2021. He and his wife, Shannon, served the church for three years. During this time, the church purchased 2 portable buildings to use as classrooms for the children's church, Sunday school, youth, and more. In June of 2024, Roland resigned from the pastorate when life circumstances took him in a different direction.
6 months later, after much prayer and consideration, the pulpit committee selected a candidate, Brian Casper, to bring before the church for a vote. Brian was voted in and started his role as Pastor of CBC at the beginning of 2025.
A vote was made in April of 2025 to change the name of the church once again to give the church a fresh start. The vote passed and the church became Cornerstone Bible Church as of May 1st, 2025.
Cornerstone Bible Church is thankful for God’s abundant blessings, protection, and guidance through the years and is looking forward to what God has planned in the years to come!
